1/1 - NU vs. Miss. St. - Bowl Watches

Bowl Watches in Hampton Roads and Richmond

Tuesday, January 1st - Noon Kickoff

As we ring in the New Year on January 1, the Northwestern Wildcats (9-3) will face the Mississippi State Bulldogs (8-4) in the Gator Bowl, Northwestern's third New Year's Day bowl in the last four years.  The Bulldogs of the SEC have one of the best defenses in the country. This will be a big test for Kain, Venric, and Fitz. Moreover, Fitz is tied for the most wins in NU coaching history with 49... Is this game #50?

We hope many of you are able to make the trip to Jacksonville to show our colors (I'll be there!). For those of you who cannot make the trip, please join fellow Virginia alumni in the Richmond area and in Hampton Roads to watch the game and help cheer our Wildcats to a coveted bowl victory.

The Pitrak's, big Wildcat fans and the best hosts in the state, will host a game watch party for all who would like to join them.  Snacks and beverages will be provided.

The Pitrak's House
14424 Pipers Terrace
Midlothian 23114

A devoted Wildcat contingent will be rooting hard at Roger Brown's Sportsbar in Olde Towne Portsmouth:

Roger Brown's Restaurant & Sports Bar
316 High Street
Olde Towne Portsmouth 23704

So whether in Richmond, Hampton Roads, or the stands in Jacksonville, put on your purple and cheer on the Wildcats to beat the Bulldogs!

Led by powerhouse RB Rex Burkhead, Nebraska (4-2, 1-1) has had two weeks to prepare for Northwestern (6-1, 2-1). Both teams are in a fight for the Legends division and the road to the Rose Bowl. UNL puts up more points than any other B1G team but a well-rested NU rush defense plans to stand its ground.

(side note: have you registered for NUVA's big event in Staunton on Saturday, Nov. 3rd?)

The Huskers make their first trip to Evanston since... a 19-7 Wildcats win on October 3, 1931. Put your purple on, come out and watch history repeat itself!

Come out and let's keep the dream alive! Wear your purple proudly!

Northwestern (4-0) is one of CFB's biggest surprises in 2012 but still holds several dubious college football records. With a win against the Hoosiers (2-1) this weekend, we'll own one less as we break more ties with "The Dark Ages." IU and NU are tied for most losses in all of college football - 632 each. Fortune has it that we play each other this weekend.

Come out and root for the Wildcats to start conference play undefeated. As always, wear purple!

To open the 2011 season, the Wildcats marched into Chestnut Hill behind Kain Colter. Today, the Boston College Eagles land in Ryan Field - the third BCS AQ team NU faces. What does that mean? NU is one of the only schools in the country to face only teams from the major conferences. Not only is that turning heads, but we're the ONLY one of those teams to be undefeated!

Come out to one of our THREE game watch locations and root root root for the Wildcats. Wear your purple!

*Why the revised locations AGAIN? We decided the Buffalo Wild Wings in Norfolk is the best atmosphere in Hampton Roads for Wildcats. And the Short Pump location is restored since DJs don't play at 4 in the afternoon. We apologize for switching around the locations.

In September 2010, the Wildcats played under the lights in Nashville and introduced college football to a guy named Dan Persa. Now, Vanderbilt comes to Ryan Field to showcase their best team in a generation. After a classic Cardiac ‘Cats game in Syracuse, our men in purple are clawing for a dominating win over the SEC eggheads.

Come out to one of our THREE game watch locations and cheer on Kain, Mach V, and Fitz. Look for the N ‘Cat flag and wear purple!

Cheer on the Northwestern University Wildcats as they start the 2012 season against the Syracuse Orange. The 'Cats bring back many of last year's stars including QB Kain Colter. He's got the top-ranked wide receiving corps to throw to in the Big Ten. Coach Fitz hopes to make a big statement against a resurgent 'Cuse squad that gave us a heartbreaking lost three years ago.

This year, the NU Club of Virginia has THREE game watch locations across the state! They're all part of the Lake the Post's NU Bar Network. The Richmond and Hampton Roads locations are new to our regular game watch locations, so please turn out and make them a success!

Come out for the first game of the season as the 'Cats secure their first W. Show your pride and wear purple.
